WhatsApp AI assistant for recruiters: candidate follow-ups, interview scheduling and client feedback on your own number

You have six open roles, 50 candidates in play and four hiring managers who each prefer a different WhatsApp group. A candidate you shortlisted on Monday asked about the notice period and never heard back, the hiring manager said "let's meet her this week" and went quiet, and the feedback from yesterday's interview is somewhere in a voice note. By Friday the candidate has accepted another offer.
A WhatsApp AI assistant for recruiters should keep these conversations moving on the number candidates and clients already message, not blast job alerts. Perisclaw connects to your own WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business app as a linked device, tracks which candidates are waiting on you, books interviews on your calendar, chases hiring managers for feedback, finds CVs in old chats and files them to Drive. It drafts messages in your self-chat and sends them after you approve, and it deliberately stops before anything looks like bulk outreach.
What a WhatsApp AI assistant for recruiters handles
Candidate follow-ups that don't go cold
Perisclaw reads the chats you allow and sorts the open work: candidates who asked something and need your reply, things you promised ("I'll share the JD tonight"), and things you're waiting on (the updated CV, the expected salary). Each chat gets a Needs You, Waiting or Later label in your chat list, and your morning briefing lists the ones that matter most.
For a candidate who goes quiet, set up a chase once:
"If Ananya hasn't sent her updated CV and notice period by Wednesday 11am, ask her again. If there's still nothing by Friday, tell me."
Before it starts, Perisclaw shows you who it will message, how long it waits and when it stops, and it stops as soon as she replies. For more on how it finds promises in chats, read how Perisclaw tracks WhatsApp follow-ups.
Interview scheduling on your calendar
Connect Google Calendar or Outlook, then hand over the whole exchange: "Find a 45-minute slot on Thursday or Friday when Ananya and Rahul from the client can both do a video interview, book it, and confirm with Ananya." Perisclaw runs the back-and-forth until the time is set and asks you before agreeing to anything you didn't allow. It needs the attendees' email addresses before it creates the invite, and a meeting with no location normally gets a Google Meet link.
When the candidate and the hiring manager are in different cities or countries, say whose timezone a time is in; Perisclaw confirms ambiguous cross-timezone bookings with you before it creates the event. Calendly is in the app catalog as of November 2026 if you already send booking links.

A plain scheduled message covers interview-day nerves: "Tomorrow at 9, send Ananya: all the best for 11am, the link is in your invite, and call me after."
Hiring-manager groups and feedback
Many clients run hiring in a WhatsApp group with the HR lead, the hiring manager and you. Type /claw summarize the feedback on the three backend candidates, who's moving forward and what's still open inside the group and Perisclaw answers there. To chase feedback without being the annoying one, set it up once: "After each interview I book for the Acme roles, if the hiring manager hasn't shared feedback in the group within 24 hours, ask him for it."
A native WhatsApp poll can settle a shortlist ("Poll the Acme group: which two should go to the final round?"), and Perisclaw tells you who hasn't voted. For long group threads and voice notes, read how to summarize WhatsApp groups and voice notes.
CVs and candidate details from old chats
You remember a Java developer from Pune who sent a CV in September, not her name. Describe what you remember and Perisclaw searches your allowed chats, including PDFs, photos and voice notes, and shows where each answer came from. Connect Google Drive and "save this CV to Candidates / Backend / Ananya Rao" files it; give Perisclaw the link to your pipeline sheet and "add Ananya to the Acme sheet: 30-day notice, interview Thursday" updates it from the chat.
CVs, ID copies and salary details are personal data. Before you file them to Drive or let Perisclaw read candidate chats, check your agency's data policy and the privacy rules where you hire, such as GDPR or India's DPDP Act; Perisclaw makes no claim to meet them for you. Say "never read" plus a chat name, or lock it with WhatsApp Chat Lock, and Perisclaw can't read, search or quote it. Don't ask candidates to send passport or ID numbers by message unless the role actually needs them.
Offers and salary conversations
Perisclaw never agrees to a salary, a fee or any binding promise without checking with you, even inside an Automation you set up. It can prepare the message ("draft a note to Ananya with the offer details from the Acme group, show me first"), but the number goes out only when you approve it. Messages it sends for you go out as you, with no assistant label.
Why it won't do bulk candidate outreach
Sending job openings to long lists of numbers is the one recruiting habit Perisclaw won't help with. Here's why.
WhatsApp's own rules: WhatsApp's Terms of Service prohibit bulk messaging and auto-messaging. For businesses, its Business Messaging Policy says you may start a conversation only with people who gave you their number and agreed to hear from you, and you must stop when someone asks.
What that means in practice: pasting a JD to 200 numbers scraped from a job board or a resume database is exactly what those rules target. Recipients who didn't expect the message can report or block you.
What Perisclaw does: if you ask it to send the same message to many chats, it stops after 15 chats in one go, tells you who has and hasn't been messaged, warns that bulk outreach can get your number flagged, and asks before continuing. Splitting the list across several requests doesn't get around it, by design, and an Automation that hits the limit stops and brings the decision to you. Adding people to a group is capped at 10 at a time; beyond that it offers the invite link, which candidates join by choice.
Perisclaw is for the conversations already under way: candidates who applied, replied or gave you their number for this role. For mass job alerts to people who opted in, use a WhatsApp channel or a Business API tool.
Perisclaw also connects as a linked device, which WhatsApp didn't build for outside tools, and WhatsApp's help centre warns that linking unofficial apps can lead to a ban. Nobody outside WhatsApp can promise zero risk, so we don't.
The same workflows in India, the UAE and Latin America
India: candidates ask about CTC, notice periods and work-from-office days in English and Hindi, often by voice note. Ask "which candidates told me their notice period this week?" and log the answers to the sheet in one go.
UAE: Dubai recruiters often schedule candidates abroad with hiring managers in Dubai. Say whose timezone each slot is in, and chase certificates and experience letters as one goal instead of five reminders.
Mexico, Colombia and Brazil: a reclutador or recrutador gets candidate áudios all day. Ask "what did the candidate say about salary in that audio?" and get it in text, translated if you need it.
Where an ATS or the Business API fits better
Need | Best fit |
|---|---|
Pipelines, stages and reporting across a recruiting team | An ATS such as Greenhouse, Lever or Zoho Recruit |
Job alerts to a large opted-in candidate list | A WhatsApp Business API tool, paid per template message, or a WhatsApp channel |
Sourcing new candidates | Job boards and professional networks, not cold WhatsApp |
Your own candidate chats, interview scheduling and client feedback | Perisclaw |
At a recruiting agency, a team plan (being rolled out to accounts) gives each recruiter their own assistant on their own number, on one bill, and nobody, including the owner, can read another recruiter's chats.
FAQ
What is the best AI assistant for recruiters who work on WhatsApp?
If candidates and hiring managers already message your number, pick an assistant that works on that number. Perisclaw does, and handles follow-ups, interview booking, feedback chases and CV search. For pipelines across a team or mass job alerts, an ATS or a Business API tool fits better.
Can it send a job opening to hundreds of candidates on WhatsApp?
No. It stops after 15 chats in one go and asks before continuing, because WhatsApp prohibits bulk messaging and broadcast-style sending can get a real number flagged. Use a Business API tool with opted-in candidates instead.
Can it schedule interviews automatically?
Yes, once your calendar is connected. Ask it to coordinate a time between the candidate and the hiring manager and it runs the back-and-forth, books the event (normally with a Google Meet link) and confirms. It checks with you on anything you didn't allow.
Will it reply to candidates on its own?
Not by default. It drafts each reply in your self-chat and sends when you approve. Chases you set up send as planned, after you've seen who they'll message and when they stop.
Is candidate data used to train AI?
No. Your data stays in your own isolated, encrypted environment and is never used to train AI models. You can block any chat so Perisclaw can't read it.
