Three health policies renew next week, and one of those clients changed numbers in March. A motor claim has been stuck for ten days because the client sent the repair estimate but not the FIR copy, and he thinks he sent everything. Meanwhile a prospect asked on Sunday whether her parents' pre-existing conditions are covered, and the answer is somewhere in a PDF you forwarded her in July.

A WhatsApp AI assistant for insurance agents is most useful for the personal follow-ups around each policy, not for advice or mass reminders. Perisclaw runs on your own WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business app number as a linked device. It reminds individual clients before their renewals, chases the documents a claim is waiting on, finds what you told a client months ago and keeps a renewals sheet up to date. It drafts messages to clients in your self-chat and sends them after you approve. It doesn't sell, quote or advise on cover, and it makes no claim to meet any insurance or data-protection regulation.

What Perisclaw is not built for

Read this before you connect the number your clients use.

  • It isn't your agency system: it doesn't issue policies, calculate premiums or file claims with an insurer. Keep that in your insurer's portal and your agency management software.

  • It doesn't give advice: what a policy covers is your call and the insurer's wording. Perisclaw can find what you or the insurer said in a chat or PDF, and you check it before anything goes to a client.

  • It makes no compliance claims: Perisclaw's security certification is ISO 27001, a general information-security standard. Your licensing body, your insurer and data-protection law may set rules on how you contact clients, what you say and which tools can see their data. Check those rules before you let any outside tool read client chats.

  • It reads the chats you allow: by default, Perisclaw can read your chats to do its work, so medical reports and ID cards in those chats are processed by your assistant, inside your own isolated, encrypted environment.

How to handle sensitive client data

Health claims bring hospital bills and diagnoses; life and motor policies bring ID numbers, bank details and nominee information. Keep the most sensitive material out of WhatsApp where you can.

  • Ask for uploads, not messages: point clients to the insurer's claim portal or app for medical records and ID documents. Don't ask them to type policy, ID or bank account numbers into chat.

  • Block a chat: say "never read" followed by the chat name in your self-chat, or block it under Blocked chats in Settings → Permissions. Perisclaw then can't read, search, summarise or quote that chat.

  • Use WhatsApp Chat Lock: lock a chat in WhatsApp and Perisclaw treats it as blocked automatically, including in background work.

  • Write hard rules: in Settings → Permissions, add rules it checks before every action, such as "never tell a client whether a claim will be approved" or "never send a client's documents to anyone except that client and the insurer's claims desk".

When Perisclaw acts in a client's chat, it treats that client as an outsider: it won't reveal your other conversations, files or calendar to them, even if they ask. It never commits money or makes a binding promise without checking with you. For the wider privacy picture, read how a private AI assistant for WhatsApp handles your data.

What a WhatsApp AI assistant for insurance agents handles well

Renewal reminders, one client at a time

Keep your renewals in a Google Sheet, one row per policy, and give Perisclaw the link. Then ask every Monday: "Which policies in the renewals sheet expire in the next 30 days, and which of those clients haven't replied to me yet?"

For each client, set the reminder in plain words: "On 20 November, remind Mrs Rao that her health policy renews on 5 December and ask whether anyone in the family has had a hospital stay this year." Perisclaw repeats the schedule back so you can check it. For a client who goes quiet, set up a short chase: "If she hasn't replied by the 27th, ask again, and tell me if there's still nothing by 1 December." Before the chase starts, it shows you who it will message, how long it waits and when it stops, and it stops when she replies.

Claim document chasing

Hand over a claim's paperwork as a goal: "Get the FIR copy and the final repair invoice from Mr Khan for his motor claim by Friday. Follow up when useful, ask him to upload both to the insurer's claim portal, and tell me when he says they're done." Perisclaw works out from the chat what's still missing, follows up and comes back to you if he asks something it can't answer.

Ask any time: "Which open claims am I still waiting on documents for, and what's missing in each?" Perisclaw keeps a list of what people owe you across your chats, labels those chats Waiting, and your morning briefing brings back the ones that matter. For more on this, read how to track WhatsApp follow-ups with AI.

Policy questions from the chat history

Clients ask what they were told. Describe what you remember, "the PDF I sent Priya about the maternity waiting period", and Perisclaw searches your allowed chats, including PDFs, photos and voice notes, and shows the source. Inside a client's chat, /claw find the policy schedule I sent here in July returns the message without scrolling.

Perisclaw returning matching WhatsApp messages with their dates and the conversations they came from

Draft the answer from your own words and the insurer's wording, and read it before you approve. Perisclaw drafts; you decide what a policy covers.

Life events you'd otherwise miss

Clients mention a new baby, a new car or a move in passing. Perisclaw keeps track of updates like these against each person and brings them back in your digest when that client is on your calendar, so you can ask whether their cover still fits. Ask "what's new with the Raos since we last spoke?" before a renewal conversation.

The same work in India, Mexico and the UAE

India: a life or health insurance agent in Pune keeps hundreds of families on WhatsApp, many sending voice notes in Marathi or Hindi. Ask "which family policies renew in December, and who hasn't confirmed?" and approve each reminder.

Mexico: an agente de seguros in Monterrey handles autos and gastos médicos mayores renewals, with clients who prefer audios. Ask for "the documents the client said in the audio he'd send for the siniestro, and which have arrived".

UAE: a broker in Dubai handles motor and medical renewals for expat clients who travel often. Name the client's timezone when you schedule a reminder, and Perisclaw asks if a time is unclear instead of guessing.

A word on bulk messages and your number

Don't use Perisclaw to send a renewal notice or a new-product offer to your whole book. WhatsApp's Terms of Service prohibit bulk messaging and auto-messaging, so Perisclaw stops after 15 chats in one go, tells you who has and hasn't been messaged, and asks before continuing. Adding people to a group is capped at 10 at a time.

Perisclaw connects as a linked device, which WhatsApp didn't build for outside tools, and WhatsApp's help centre warns that linking unofficial apps can lead to a ban. It's built for normal one-to-one work like the reminders and chases above. Nobody outside WhatsApp can promise zero risk, so we don't.

FAQ

Is there an AI assistant for insurance agents who work on WhatsApp?

Yes. Perisclaw works on the number your clients already message. It sends personal renewal reminders, chases claim documents, finds what you told a client and keeps your renewals sheet current. It doesn't sell or advise on policies.

Can it send renewal reminders to all my clients at once?

No. It stops after 15 chats in one go and asks before continuing, because broadcast-style sending can get a real number flagged. Set individual reminders, or use a Business API tool for notices to your whole book.

Is it safe to use with medical and policy documents?

Your data stays in your own isolated, encrypted environment, isn't read by Perisclaw's team and is never used for AI training, and Perisclaw is ISO 27001 certified. It makes no claim to meet any insurance or data-protection regulation, so check your own obligations, send medical records through the insurer's portal and block chats you shouldn't share.

Will it answer clients' policy questions on its own?

Not unless you set it up, and for policy questions you shouldn't. By default it drafts each message in your self-chat and sends when you approve, so you check every answer about cover.

Does it understand voice notes in Hindi or Spanish?

Yes. Perisclaw understands most widely used languages, including voice notes, so "what did Mr Khan say in that audio?" gets you the gist in text, translated if you ask.
