For a while, Luzia was the easiest AI in Brazil and Latin America: you saved a number, forwarded it a four-minute áudio and got the text back in seconds. Then Meta changed its rules for AI chatbots on WhatsApp, and the contact you used every day started pointing you to an app. If you relied on it for work, you're now asking what replaces it.

Luzia vs Perisclaw is really a question of what you need. Luzia is a free, general AI assistant, now mainly an app and web chat, that's good for questions, homework, translation, transcription and images. Perisclaw is an executive assistant that runs on your own WhatsApp number: it reads the chats you allow, understands the voice notes people send you, tracks what you and your clients promised and follows up for you. For everyday questions, Luzia is free and friendly. If your business runs on WhatsApp, Perisclaw is the one that works inside it.

Facts about Luzia below were checked on its own site and in recent coverage, as of November 2026.

What Luzia does well

Luzia is a startup from Villena, in Spain, and it calls itself "your most human artificial intelligence assistant: free and easy". It reports more than 85 million users worldwide, and Brazil is its biggest market; in September 2026 it told Mobile Time it has 40 million users there and is building local features such as ENEM exam practice.

On its site Luzia lists maths, writing, translation, code, explanations, sport, transcription and images. You can upload a photo or a PDF, search the web and create images. The free plan covers most people; Luzia+ adds longer chats and more images, an advanced reasoning mode and higher-quality results.

Luzia is the better choice if you want a free AI for questions, studying, translating, transcribing and making images, in Spanish or Portuguese, and you're happy using an app.

What happened to Luzia on WhatsApp

Luzia grew as a WhatsApp contact, and that channel got harder in 2026. Meta's rule against general-purpose AI chatbots on the WhatsApp Business Platform took effect on January 15, 2026. In Brazil the competition regulator CADE had suspended it, and Luzia said it would keep its WhatsApp service running "while it's possible"; a week later it was still working there.

The direction was already clear, though. In October 2025 Luzia's CEO called WhatsApp one of its secondary channels and the apps its main one. By September 2026 Mobile Time reported that, after the legal fight with Meta, Luzia had left WhatsApp to focus on its own Android and iOS app. As of November 2026, Luzia's site lists the web chat and the two apps, not WhatsApp.

What Perisclaw does differently

Perisclaw doesn't depend on Meta's chatbot rules, because it isn't a business contact on Meta's platform. It connects to your own WhatsApp number as a linked device, the same way WhatsApp Web does, so it works with regular WhatsApp or the WhatsApp Business app in Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Argentina or anywhere else. You talk to it in your self-chat (the "message yourself" chat), or type /claw in any chat or group.

  • Voice notes where they arrive: no forwarding. Ask "what did Ricardo say in that áudio about the deposit?" and you get the gist; ask for a full transcript, translated if you like.

  • What needs you: a morning catch-up of the chats waiting on your reply and the promises that are due, each with a one-line reason.

  • Promises: when a client writes "te mando el brief el lunes" or you write "envio a proposta amanhã", Perisclaw notes it, closes it when it happens, and reminds you when it doesn't.

  • Follow-ups: "Cobra o Ricardo pelo contrato assinado a cada dois dias até ele responder." Before the chase starts, Perisclaw shows you who it will message, how long it waits and when it stops; then it sends from your number and stops when he replies.

  • Your other tools: Gmail or Outlook, Google Calendar, Drive and Sheets from the same chat.

It understands Portuguese, Spanish and most other widely used languages with no setting to change. By default, anything it writes to someone else on your request waits in your self-chat until you approve it.

Two examples

A corretor in São Paulo: buyers send long áudios about the apartment they want, owners confirm visits in groups. Ask "which buyers did I promise a visit to this week and haven't confirmed?" and Perisclaw lists them, drafts the confirmations and reminds you the day before. An AI in a separate app only knows the áudios you take out of WhatsApp and hand to it, and it still wouldn't know who you promised what.

An agencia in Guadalajara: each client has a group with your team in it. Type "/claw ¿qué aprobó el cliente y qué sigue pendiente?" in the group to get the answer in the thread, then ask for a Monday summary of every client group from your self-chat.

What Perisclaw can't do

  • It isn't a general homework or image tool: for maths help, exam practice or making pictures, Luzia or a general chatbot is the better pick.

  • It isn't free forever: after the 7-day trial it's a flat monthly price, paid by card.

  • No bulk sending: it stops after 15 chats and asks before going further, because bulk messages can get a real number flagged.

  • The linked-device caveat: linked devices weren't built for outside tools, and WhatsApp's help centre warns that linking unofficial apps can lead to a ban. Perisclaw is built for normal personal use and stays clear of the bulk patterns WhatsApp's spam rules target.

Your data is never used to train AI models, you can block any chat from Perisclaw, and you can disconnect it from Linked devices in WhatsApp at any time. More in Privacy & security.

Which one should you pick?

  • Pick Luzia if: you want a free AI app for questions, school, translation, transcription and images.

  • Pick Perisclaw if: your clients, suppliers and team are on WhatsApp and you lose track of áudios, promises and follow-ups.

  • Looking at Zapia too? Zapia is app and web first with a free plan, Pro at US$9.99 and Ultra at US$99.99 a month, and is strong on email and calendar. See the best AI assistant on WhatsApp in Brazil, Mexico and Latin America for the full list.

  • Want something free inside WhatsApp? Meta AI is built into WhatsApp for quick questions, translations and images, but it doesn't track your promises or follow up for you; see Meta AI vs Perisclaw.

Perisclaw has a 7-day free trial with no card needed.

FAQ

Is Luzia still on WhatsApp?

Not as of November 2026. Luzia kept its WhatsApp service in Brazil after CADE suspended Meta's rule in January 2026, but by September 2026 it had left WhatsApp to focus on its own app. Its site now lists web, iOS and Android.

What are the best alternatives to Luzia on WhatsApp?

Meta AI is free and built into WhatsApp for quick questions. Perisclaw works inside your own WhatsApp number, reads the chats and voice notes you allow and follows up for you. Zapia is an app-first option for email and calendar help.

Luzia vs Zapia vs Meta AI: which is best on WhatsApp?

Meta AI is the only one of the three built into WhatsApp itself. Luzia and Zapia are now app first. If you want an assistant that works with your own chats rather than a separate chatbot, look at Perisclaw.

Can Perisclaw transcribe WhatsApp voice notes like Luzia did?

Yes, and without forwarding. It reads the voice notes in the chats you allow, gives you the gist or a full transcript, and turns your own voice notes into tasks and reminders.

Is Luzia free?

Yes, with a paid Luzia+ plan for longer chats, more images and advanced reasoning.
