How to connect WhatsApp to Mistral Vibe (formerly Le Chat)

You picked Mistral because you wanted a European AI, or because you like how it writes. But the work you'd most like help with is sitting in WhatsApp: client groups, supplier voice notes, a dozen chats you meant to answer yesterday. Le Chat couldn't see any of it, so you copied messages across by hand.

You can connect WhatsApp to Mistral Vibe, the new name for Le Chat since May 2026, by adding Perisclaw as a custom MCP connector. Open Connectors, choose + Add Connector, switch to Custom MCP Connector, paste https://api.perisclaw.com/mcp/plugin, and sign in. It works on the free plan, and Vibe can then search, summarise and (if you allow it) reply to your own WhatsApp chats.

Le Chat is now Mistral Vibe

On May 28, 2026 Mistral renamed Le Chat to Vibe and split it into modes: Work for everyday tasks and chat, and Code for programming. It still lives at chat.mistral.ai. Connectors, the feature you need here, belong to Work, so if Vibe opens in Code, switch to Work in the sidebar first.

Who can add a custom connector

Mistral treats custom MCP connectors as an admin feature. On the Free, Pro and Student plans you're the admin of your own account, so you can add it yourself. On Team and Enterprise, ask your workspace admin to add it. Since a WhatsApp number belongs to one person, each teammate should connect their own Perisclaw account rather than share one.

Connect WhatsApp to Mistral Vibe, step by step

1. In Vibe on the web, open Connectors from the sidebar.

2. Click + Add Connector and switch to the Custom MCP Connector tab.

3. Enter perisclaw as the Connector name (no spaces or special characters), https://api.perisclaw.com/mcp/plugin as the Server URL, and a description such as "My WhatsApp: search, read and send messages".

4. Click Connect. Vibe detects that Perisclaw uses OAuth sign-in and opens it for you.

5. Sign in to Perisclaw, or create an account and link WhatsApp by scanning a QR code or entering a pairing code on your phone.

6. Choose Read only or Read & write and approve.

To use it, click + or type / in the message box, open Tools and turn on Perisclaw. Then ask "What needs my reply on WhatsApp today?"

Set what Vibe can do without asking

Vibe splits each connector's tools into read functions (searching and reading) and write functions (sending and changing things), and it asks for your approval each time it uses one unless you pre-approve it.

1. Go to Connectors and open the My Connectors tab.

2. Click the Perisclaw card and open Functions.

3. Turn on Always allow for the tools you trust.

A sensible setup is to allow the read tools, so searching your chats doesn't interrupt you, and leave sending on manual approval so you see every message before it goes. Mistral recommends the same.

What to ask once it's connected

• Catch up: "What needs my reply on WhatsApp today? Give me one line on each."

• Summarise a group: "Summarise the Lyon project group since Monday and list anything I need to decide."

• Translate and reply: "Summarise the supplier's last messages in English, then draft my reply in French." Vibe shows you the message and waits for approval before sending.

• Find things: "What delivery date did the warehouse give me last week?"

• Turn chats into documents: "Pull every decision from the board WhatsApp group this month into a one-page summary."

Reading chats through Perisclaw doesn't mark them as read, so nobody sees blue ticks because Vibe looked. Files from messages come through up to 10 MB.

If something doesn't connect

These steps follow Mistral's own documentation as of November 2026. If the Perisclaw sign-in doesn't complete, contact support and we'll help.

Mistral's error for a connector it can't set up is "MCP connection requires additional information or is invalid". Check that the URL ends in /mcp/plugin and has no spaces, and that the connector name has no spaces either. If sign-in finished but tools don't show up, remove the connector and add it again. If Perisclaw stops returning new messages, open Settings → Linked devices in WhatsApp on your phone and check that Perisclaw is still listed; if not, reconnect WhatsApp from the Perisclaw web app.

Is it safe?

Perisclaw connects to your WhatsApp as a linked device, the same way WhatsApp Web does, so your account stays on your phone. Vibe gets your own WhatsApp only, at the level you chose, and you can remove the connector in Vibe or in the Perisclaw web app at any time. We don't use your messages to train AI models. WhatsApp's help centre warns that linking unofficial apps can lead to a ban; Perisclaw is built for normal personal use and stops and checks with you after 15 chats if you try to send the same message to many people. Can Le Chat read my WhatsApp?

Le Chat is now called Mistral Vibe. It can't read WhatsApp on its own, but once you add Perisclaw as a custom MCP connector it can search, read and summarise your chats when you ask.

Does it work on Mistral's free plan?

Yes. Mistral's docs say custom MCP connectors are an admin feature, and on Free, Pro and Student plans the account owner is the admin.

Will Vibe send messages without asking me?

Not unless you allow it. Vibe asks before each tool call unless you turn on Always allow for that function, so leave the sending tools on manual approval.

Can I use it in Vibe's Code mode?

Mistral documents connectors as part of Work, so set it up and use it there. If you want WhatsApp in a coding agent, Cursor, Claude Code and Codex connect to the same URL.
